Medium for Consolidation
Lascaux Medium Konsolidierung
Finely dispersed aqueous copolymerisate dispersion with excellent penetration properties. MFT approx. 4°C. pH 8-9. Lightfast and age-resistant. Soluble in esters, aromatics, acetone, MEK.

This medium for consolidation was developed in cooperation with the Swedish National Heritage Board for the consolidation of paint layers in medieval polychromy on wood. Thanks to its low viscosity the medium displays excellent penetration properties which allow for a rapid and safe consolidation of all forms of loose and powdery paint layers.
Also suited for surfaces sensitive to moisture such as gildings or thins layers of distemper. Can be used on wooden or textile supports.

Organic solution of an acrylic resin based on butyl methacrylate TG 25°C. For conserving and fixing paint layers; for lining delicate textiles.

Ethyl methacrylate copolymer. Tg 40 °C.
Paraloid B 72 has been used in restoration since the 1950s and is considered to be the most tested and stable resin employed for conserving works of art. It is best suited for treating, fixing and consolidating murals and paintings, as a primer and as final varnish as well as a fixative for graphic art, chalk and charcoal drawings and pastels. Also as an adhesive for glass anc ceramics, of for the preservation and consolidation of wood.
Paraloid B 72 50% gloss

Ethyl methacrylate copolymer. Tg 40 °C. 50% gloss, dilution in toluene.
