In 1994 Hadids first large building was inaugurated – the fire brigade building for furniture manufacturer Vitra on their premises in Weil am Rhein near Basle. The dynamics of the architecture reminds of a ‘petrified lightning’. The flowing forms, the absence of right angles and the colourfulness offer visitors an unusual spatial experience accentuated by the golden iridescent wall on the inside.
